“Cancer Supportive Care Makes Our Dreams Come True”

We are proud to announce that the 9th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (#JASCC24) will be held between May 18th and 19th, 2024. We are greatly indebted to our directors and members for making this possible, and on behalf of the organizers, we would like to express our gratitude to the companies and other supporters for their backing to us in propelling the future of cancer supportive care.

This 9th Annual Meeting will follow up the discussions held at the 2023 meeting, which is to be jointly hosted by the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) and the JASCC. We will be presenting the latest discoveries and findings in cancer supportive care in order to disseminate knowledge and information throughout Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.

The Japanese Government’s Basic Plan to Promote Cancer Control Programs is about to enter its fourth phase. Efforts that would ensure the delivery of therapies and care of high quality are greatly required. The JASCC published in 2022 The JASCC Textbook of Cancer Supportive Care and Survivorship, an evidence-based comprehensive textbook on cancer supportive care. What is required in order for us to deliver high-quality cancer treatment is supportive care that is based on scientific evidence with the coordinated effort of a multidisciplinary team, which can deal with a variety of cancer-related signs and symptoms as well as adverse events associated with cancer treatments. This is how we can improve our patients’ QOL and vital prognosis while boosting their well-being.

We believe that voices from the frontline of healthcare and from patients taking part in clinical trials and other research activities make cancer therapies and supportive care more effective, safer, and able to ensure patients' quality of life, which leads to sustainability. The theme for the 9th Annual Meeting is “Cancer Supportive Care Makes Our Dreams Come True.” We are all driven by the desire to bring a better outcome to patients by ensuring that they have full access to cancer treatments and supportive care of high quality, wherever they are and whenever they need them. The 9th Annual Meeting will be offering a very wide-ranging program on cancer supportive care: cutting-edge research presentations, symposiums, case studies, workshops, panel discussion and meet-the-expert programs, together with educational/training sessions that would provide practical expertise in frontline cancer supportive care. There will also be a forum where patients, their families and the general public can engage in discussion about the past and future of cancer supportive care and survivorship.

On behalf of the steering committee of #JASCC24, I would like to convey our heartfelt thanks for the support from all our members of JASCC, including board members and study/working groups that meet under various themes. We very much look forward to seeing as many participants as possible so that we can share our vision in making our dreams come true.
